THERE IS LOTS TO SEE AND DO IN OUR LITTLE TOWN OF MENAHGA "THE GATEWAY TO THE PINES".

MENAHGA AREA HISTORICAL MUSEUM

It offers visitors a glimpse into the past through a variety of artifacts, exhibits and photos.  There is also an art gallery of paintings by local artists.  The museum is located on Helsinki Blvd. NE, just east of the statue of St. Urho.  The museum is open throughout the summer months.  The local historical society maintains the museum.  For more information, call 564-5063.

ST. URHO PARK  (LOCATED ON HIGHWAY #71)

It is the home of a statue honoring the legendary patron saint of Finland.  The park grounds surrounding St. Urho offer visitors an attractive place to rest and become acquainted with the legend of the Finnish hero.   St. Urho saved the grape crops a long, long time ago.  March 16th is the official St. Urho's Day, but Finnish residents and visitors (and those who want to be Finnish, if only for a day) celebrate on the weekend closest to the day with some Finnish fun.  The wearing of purple and green is a must.

MEMORIAL GARDEN (LOCATED NEAR DOWNTOWN)

It has a pavilion surrounded by flower beds, shrubs and trees which offers visitors a beautiful setting to relax in.  Both parks are maintained by the Menahga Garden Club.

SPIRIT LAKE  (RECREATION & RELAXATION)

Beautiful Spirit Lake with its white sugar sand beach is a favorite place in the summertime.  The swimming beach has lifeguards on duty and swimming lessons are available.  A large T-shape fishing pier is available for public use and there is a public boat access near the pier.

BLUEBERRY PINES GOLF CLUB AND RESTAURANT

It is located three miles north of Menahga on Highway #71.  This beautiful golf course is an 18 hole, par 72 championship course.  A fleet of golf carts featuring Uplink GPS screens enables golfers to tell the distance from the cart to hazards along the fairway, as well as positions on the green.  Blueberry Pines is the first course in the area to offer this state-of-the-art golf technology.  The golf course also has a fully stocked proshop with a golf pro on the staff and lessons available.  The restaurant offers "casual dining at its finest" with both a dining room and entertainment lounge.

MENAHGA MEMORIAL FOREST PARK

It is located on the south edge of town.  It is a 40-acre park of stately pines with campground facilities, most with electrical hook-ups.  There are two sheltered pavilions, picnic tables, running water and rest rooms for those wanting to enjoy an afternoon outing or have a large family reunion at the park.  For more information, call city hall 564-4557.
